Metal powders on the basis of bronze or blends of copper and tin are highly used in diamond impregnated tools. The bronze powder builds the binder of the diamonds by cold and hot compaction. While using the diamond tools for cutting, drilling or grinding the metal bonds must wear away progressively to continually expose new diamonds on the tool surface. The differences in the abrasive behaviour of the materials to be worked on result in the need of a great variety of powder blends for the binder.
